So you know how it is when you realise you got almost enough spares to build another bike.

So I've got a few spare GSXR1100 motors, a pair worked K1 Gsxr600 forks and a k4 750 swing arm, oh and some 3 spoke Dymags, really only need a frame and tank to build a bike, so a reasonable priced 750 slingshot frame and bodywork came a long, and we are off.

Now Carbs. I like a nice set of flatslides, but they are getting expensive if you want a properly functioning set. People keep telling me fuel injection is the future, I'm not convinced, but the price of a set of good used throttle bodies has got me thinking.

So a set of K8 GSXR 750 throttle bodies, fuel rail, injectors, and fuel pump have been bought/borrowed of a mate who was breaking his track bike.

So a plan is coming together. 7/11 slingshot in a 89AMA style with modernish running gear, fuel injection, and some other electronickery. I'm looking at using a Speeduino ECU, these are a DIY kit like the Megasquirt, but can run ignition too, and the software is open source so you can do some interesting stuff with it if you are so inclined. It'll be a learn as I go project, but plans are eventually to write some code to create traction control, and an auto blipper for down changes, as well as a flat shifter.

In addition, I have an old data logger/ dash set-up which I will use to log engine stuff as well as rider performance to try and develop my track riding.

This will be a slow burner this. Its number 3 in a list of 4 fairly major bike builds I have on the go currently.

Anyway. Problem 1. Throttle bodies are big, way bigger than stock carbs, also the spacings all wrong for the head, an the K8 throttle bodies are siamesed unlike earlier set-ups.

Soloution; Custom in take Manifolds.
